Playing in Colombo, Shakib, with the bat, top-scored for Bangladesh with a 31-ball 38, pushing his team’s total to 176.

Sri Lanka faltered badly in the chase, capitulating to 131 all out. The key to Bangladesh’s victory was Shakib’s spell as he registered figures of 3-24 in his 4 overs, including the two openers’ wickets.
He was aided massively by Mustafizur Rahman who picked up figures of 4-21. Shakib won the Player of Match for his efforts.
