The remaining two spots were filled via World Cup Qualifiers, where Sri Lanka and the Netherlands finished in the top-two.

Just like the previous edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup, teams won't be clubbed in a bunch of groups this time either.

The league stage would be played out in a single round-robin format, where each of the 10 teams will play against each other once, and the top-4 will qualify for the semi-finals.

A total of 45 matches will take place in the 1st round between October 05-November 12.

Defending champions England will open the World Cup with their blockbuster clash against 2019 runners-up New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 05.

While England will be led by dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, the Kiwis will likely be led by Tom Latham as regular skipper Kane Williamson is expected to miss the first part of the tournament due to injury.

Hosts India will be led by Rohit Sharma, and they will open their campaign against the Pat Cummins-led Australia at the Chepauk on October 08.
