The IPL has entered the most important phase where all the teams are battling hard to find a spot in the top four positions of the points table.

There have been proven performers for each team while some of the costly buys have failed to justify their price tag.

The batsmen have taken this season by storm as totals in excess of 200 have mostly been chased down. Most of the bowlers have had a season to forget as they have been belted away for runs badly.

However, there have been some exceptional pacers who have defied the odds and have managed to put decent performances to their name.

Here, we will look at those pacers who have impressed us the most.

#3 Liam Plunkett

Liam Plunkett has been in prolific form this season with the Delhi Daredevils. After initially going unsold in the auction, he was called up by the Delhi Daredevils as a replacement for the injured Kagiso Rabada.

Plunkett has continued to improve game after game. He has impressed everyone with his bowling exploits where he took figures of 3/17 in his first ever game in the IPL. His efforts went in vain as Delhi Daredevils failed to chase a modest target of 144.

Plunkett's combination of pace and swing has troubled most of the batsmen. He has played a total of 5 games so far this season and has taken 4 wickets at a steady economy of 8.72.

Delhi's fortunes could have changed had Plunkett been included in the XI as soon as he replaced Rabada.

#2 Lungi Ngidi

Lungi Ngidi, South Africa's new bowling prospect, rose to limelight when he was adjudged as joint second-highest wicket-taker in the Africa Cup.

In a highly unexpected scenario, he was drafted in by South Africa as Steyn's replacement for the test series against India where he took figures of 6/139 and was also adjudged as the Man of the Match in his debut Test match.

Chennai Super Kings were quick in acquiring the young prodigy at a bargain price of 50 lakhs. Buying him has paid dividends for Chennai Super Kings as he has taken 3 wickets from 3 matches at an ideal economy of 7.81.

Chennai's struggle to find a specialist pacer has finally come to an end, thanks to Ngidi who has ticked all the boxes for the side.

#1 Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer has been one of the lone bright spots for Rajasthan Royals this season. The extremely talented cricketer was bought for a hefty sum of 7.20 crores by the Rajasthan Royals after an intense bidding war between Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings.

He was considered by most of the teams in the IPL due to his staggering performances in the BBL where he has taken 17 wickets from 13 matches at an impressive economy of 7.88.

Archer is a clean hitter of the ball and also a death-overs specialist who can constantly clock speeds above 150 kph.

He was signed in by Rajasthan as a complete package who could perfectly aid Ben Stokes in the team. He has played 4 matches so far this season and has taken 8 wickets at an economy rate of 8.22.

He has been one of the lone consistent performers in the list of costly buys.
