Sold for: Rs. 3.4 crore to Rajasthan Royals

The Ranchi born youngster, who plays for Maharastra in the domestic circuit caught the eye of the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants ahead of the IPL auction 2017. Bought at a base price of Rs. 10 lakh, little did the franchises know about his capabilities.

In the 14 matches that he played in the 2017 edition, Tripathi scored 391 runs at a massive strike rate of 146.44. He fired from the front every time the top batting order failed. Rahul Tripathi was one of the reasons that Rising Pune Supergiants reached the final of the tournament last year.

In this year's IPL auction Tripathi got his due, and was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 3.4 crore after a fierce bidding war between Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils.
