With as many as seven potential high-return players in Quinton de Kock, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Jason Roy, Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell and Chris Morris featuring in the match, there is no way you will be able to get all of them into your team. You will, therefore, have to resign yourself to the fact that you are going to lose out on some points.

I only have two capped slots open, and leaving Virat Kohli out when he is back opening the innings would be foolish. So, that is one in. And if RCB bat first, I would be needing a second innings power player, which will have to come from Delhi Daredevils.

Among the players available, Pant keeps wickets, giving me a second scoring option as a result, bats higher than Glenn Maxwell, plays spin better than Jason Roy, is in better form than Chris Morris and cheaper than all the three players in consideration.

If RCB bat second, however, Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers come into contention as well. But I can’t carry either of them to their next match, as they are both costly and block an overseas spot. So if you are looking at long-term, Pant is still better.

It is difficult to see who is going to stop De Villiers in this Delhi Daredevils bowling attack if he gets enough time in the crease, so I am hoping he doesn’t. There is also a chance he could be pushed down the order in response to the disappointing RCB batting performances so far, which could really help.

Among the uncapped options in play today, Rahul Tewatia is easily the best available. However, if Manan Vohra gets picked in the XI, there is every chance he could open the innings, making him more appealing.
