It's been more than a month since IPL 2019 started, and there are fewer than 10 games left in the league stage. This season has so far offered a lot of things to its fans - from the big hitting of Andre Russell, the heroics of Hardik Pandya and the composure of MS Dhoni, to a brilliant Super Over by Kagiso Rabada and the impeccable consistency of David Warner.

Some of the players have emerged out of nowhere and performed brilliantly in this tournament, which justifies the tagline 'where talent meets opportunity'. The list of such players includes the likes of Shreyas Gopal, Riyan Parag, Rahul Chahar, Jofra Archer and Shubman Gill.

But here, we take a look at the players that were hot buys during this year's auctions but failed to live up to the expectations:

#3 Jaydev Unadkat (Rajasthan Royals)

Jaydev Unadkat was one of the most expensive buys at this year's auctions as he grabbed a whopping ₹8.4 crore from his last year's franchise, Rajasthan Royals. So far, he has featured in 11 games for them in which he has just 10 scalps to his name and that too with an economy of over 10 runs per over.

Last year something similar happened as Unadkat was sold for ₹11.5 crores to RR and he managed to take only 11 wickets in 15 games. But after a successful season for Saurashtra in this year's Ranji Trophy, Rajasthan once again showed faith in him - which has not been fruitful so far.

Unandkat is famous for the variations that he uses while bowling which helped him in the 2017 season while he was playing for Rising Pune Supergiant. He picked up 24 wickets in just 12 games that season with a decent economy of just over 7.

But he has done nothing great since then, with the batsmen having learned how to read him.

#2 Colin Ingram (Delhi Capitals)

The former South African middle-order batsman has tons of experience when it comes to the 20-over format of the game. Colin Ingram's T20 numbers are quite impressive as he has over 6000 runs to his name after playing around 250 games, with a healthy average and strike rate of 31 and 140 respectively.

Ingram also had a terrific PSL this year where he piled up 334 runs in 11 games while playing for Karachi Kings. That helped him grabbed the eyeballs of the Delhi Capitals owners, and they picked him up in search of a good middle order batsman.

Ingram was bought for a handsome amount of INR 6.4 crore. And in Delhi's inaugural match, he seemed to suggest it was the right decision as stroked a 32-ball 47.

But not much has gone in the left-hander’ favour since then as he has just 172 runs in 11 matches. That has made Delhi Capitals a top-heavy side, and they are suffering a lot of middle order collapses.

#1 Shimron Hetmyer (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

The stylish left-handed batsman from the West Indies was bought with a lot of expectations by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at this year's auctions. Shimron Hetmyer came into the limelight during the ODI series against India where he awed everyone with his clean hitting and aggressive mindset.

The Guyanese batsman slammed a terrific century off just 78 balls and he ended up scoring 259 runs in that five-match series. This helped him grab a hefty amount of INR 4.2 crore at the IPL auction, and he was expected to provide massive strength to the Virat Kohli-led RCB in the middle or lower middle order.

All those expectations went down the drain as Hetmyer disappointed severely. He has played just four games so far in which he has managed to score just 15 runs. As a result, RCB have not been able to finish off games well and they find themselves at the bottom of the points table.
