IPL 2019 : 3 overseas players to watch out for

Indian Premier League is the world’s most popular and richest cricket league and is known for offering a great platform to players from all around the world to showcase their talent.

Over the years, foreign players have been an integral part of the IPL. This time, IPL will take place just before the World Cup 2019, so many overseas players will not be available for the whole season of IPL 2019. So the players who might not be the part of their nation's World Cup squad, will play a major role for their IPL franchises this season as they will be available for the whole season.

So here we take a look at three overseas players to watch out for in IPL 2019 :


#3 Liam Livingstone

Many wouldn't know Liam Livingstone but he is a well-known name in England's domestic circuit. He has already made two appearances for England in T20Is against the Proteas.

The 25-year-old is a very talented all-rounder. Livingstone is a destructive right-hand batsmen and bowls right-arm leg-spin. He first came into limelight when he scored 350 off just 138 balls for his club side Nantwich in a 50-over game at a very young age of 21.

So far, Livingstone has played 51 T20 matches and has scored 1110 runs from them. He has also a T20 hundred to his name. He has picked 14 wickets at an unbelievable average of 16.78 from 14 innings in which he has bowled.

In IPL 2019 auction, Livingstone was bought by Rajasthan Royals at his base price of INR 50 lakh. Being a destructive batsman and a decent leg-spinner, he could be a bargain buy for Royals this season.

So It will be very interesting to watch him in the upcoming season of IPL.

Colin Ingram is an explosive left-hand batsman and a part-time leg-break bowler. He has represented South Africa in 31 ODIs and 9 T20Is. The left-hand batsman is the only South African to hit a century on ODI debut till date.

From 31 ODIs, he has scored 843 runs with 3 centuries and 3 half-centuries. In the shortest form of the game, Ingram has scored 210 runs from 9 innings. After playing 31 ODIs and 9 T20Is, Ingram got dropped from the national side because of his inconsistency.

Ingram is one of those talented players who couldn't succeed in international cricket but has been very successful in different T20 leagues.

He performed extremely well for Glamorgan in T20 Blast 2018 as he scored 402 runs from 8 matches at an excellent average of 57.43 with 3 half-centuries.

So far, he has played a total of 205 T20 matches around the globe and has scored 5210 runs at an impressive strike-rate of 139.11 with 3 centuries and 32 half-centuries. He has also picked 37 wickets from 66 innings while bowling.

Colin Ingram fetched a whopping amount of INR 6.4 crores and was picked by Delhi Capitals at the IPL 2019 auction. He has played for the Delhi franchise way back in 2011 and 2012 seasons as well.

It will be interesting to see how Colin Ingram will perform in IPL 2019 and if he'll be able to justify his price tag.

Joe Denly is a right-hand batsman and a part-time leg-spinner from England. The 32-year-old is one of the star performers in England's domestic circuit. He made his debut for England way back in 2009 but was dropped from the national side after playing just 9 ODIs and 5 T20Is.

However, he recently made his T20I comeback against Sri Lanka. He scored 20 runs and picked 4 wickets in his comeback match and was adjudged man of the match.

In recent times, Denly's performance in T20s has been exceptionally good. Denly was impressive for Kent in T20 Blast 2018. He scored 409 runs from 12 matches at an average of 37.18 and strike rate of 145.03. In a match against Surrey, Joe Denly smashed a hundred and took a hat-trick with his leg-spin during the T20 Blast 2018 and became the first player to do so.

So far, Denly has played a total of 196 T20s and has scored 4904 runs from them at an average of 28.02 and strike rate of 122.63 with 4 centuries and 29 half-centuries. While he has picked 28 wickets at an impressive average of 19.85 from 29 innings while bowling.

Denly was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 1.0 crores at the IPL auctions 2019. For KKR, Denly could be a star performer with the bat at the top of the order in IPL 2019. He can also contribute with his leg-spin as well. So it will be worth watching him in the upcoming edition of IPL.
