Gabbar hit an exceptional knock of 95 not out during the 2011 IPL. It was the 67th match of the edition and was being played between Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab. The Chargers were put in to bat first.

Dhawan and Ravi Teja gave the team a brilliant start. Ravi Teja departed after a well-made 60 off 41 but Dhawan batted right through the end and made 95 runs in 57 deliveries.

The encounter was the last one for Deccan Chargers as they were out of contention of making it to the playoffs. Dhawan played without fear and displayed some brilliant strokes. He hit 14 fours and a six in the innings.

Punjab were bowled out for 116 runs and The Chargers won by 82 runs. Expectedly, Dhawan was made the Man of the Match. Even Amit Mishra, who picked up 4 wickets and gave away just 9 runs in his 4 overs, gave a tremendous performance in the match.

Dhawan ended the season with 400 runs in 14 matches at an average of 33.33 and strike rate of 129.03.
