Cricket's biggest extravaganza, that is the Indian Premier League, is at least two months away and we can't wait for India's biggest sporting festival to begin. The analysis of all the squads have already started after the auctions for the 13th edition of the IPL ended in December.

Over the years, we have seen many players who do well in one season of the IPL but in the next, find it hard to break into a team. There are numerous reasons for that; the constant chopping and changing of squads every year due to the auctions being one of those.

Last year, there were many Indian players who didn't get enough opportunities to prove themselves, even though their talent and reputation warranted those chances.

IPL is a two-month-long tournament, hence, it is important for teams to find the right balance in their playing XI early on. So, here we are going to state some of the Indian players who should be given more chances to stake their claim in the starting XI next season.

#4 Basil Thampi

Sunrisers Hyderabad have always been known for the quality of Indian seamers they have in their squad and considering that, it shouldn't come as a surprise that someone as highly rated as Basil Thampi didn't get enough opportunities last season.

The 2017 IPL season was the breakout year for him as he picked up 11 wickets in 12 games and he strengthened his reputation in the league for being a death bowler; someone who can nail yorkers at will. But since then, in the next two IPL seasons, he has played only 7 games, picking up 5 wickets along with an economy rate of over 9. He has not been bad for SRH, it's just that he hasn't been given a proper run of games, which is something he deserves.

Sandeep Sharma has been preferred over Thampi thus far but after a poor showing from the former in IPL 2019, SRH should think about giving Thampi a chance to prove himself. The 26-year-old can constantly bowl at over 140 km/hr, which is something only Billy Stanlake can boast of in the SRH squad. Thampi will give something different to the IPL 2016 champions and he should be given more opportunities next season.

#3 Karun Nair

Karun Nair needs lacks confidence at the moment

This is a question that keeps on ringing in Indian cricket fans' ears - What happened with Karun Nair? The Karnataka batsman was one of the biggest talents coming out of India just a few years back and now, he is nowhere near the international set-up and played just one game for KXIP last season.

No one becomes a bad player overnight, so, maybe if Nair gets his confidence back, he could return to his former self. For that, he needs to be given some opportunities. Last year, Sarfaraz Khan was preferred over Nair and even though the former played well in some games, he was very inconsistent throughout the tournament.

Karun is a proper middle-order batsman who has the ability to hit the big ones and rotate the strike. He can take either Sarfaraz Khan's position at number four or bat at number 6.

Hopefully, now that Anil Kumble is at the helm at KXIP, maybe Nair will get more opportunities to impress in IPL 2020.

#2 Manan Vohra

Manan Vohra is another player who just doesn't seem to get a proper run of games in the IPL. He's been around in the league for quite some time now and he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals last year. But, the 26-year-old, quite surprisingly, didn't get a single game last season.

Vohra had his best season in the IPL in 2014, when he reached the final with KXIP, scoring 324 runs in just 8 games. Since then, he has had an up and down career and hopefully, he can kickstart his career again at RR.

Now that Ajinkya Rahane has left RR for Delhi Capitals for next season, the opening slot, alongside Jos Buttler is up for grabs and Vohra should be given an opportunity to prove himself there. The 26-year-old is a hard-hitter of the cricket ball, who can score quick and bat for long periods. Buttler and Vohra is a partnership RR should start with next season but will it happen? Only time will tell.

#1 Washington Sundar

RCB have one of the biggest talents in India with Washington Sundar and he simply needs to play

After breaking onto the scene in IPL 2017, Washington Sundar signed for Royal Challengers Banglore before IPL 2018 and since then, he has suffered a downfall as he hasn't been allowed a constant run of games by the Banglore franchise.

It's so peculiar, isn't it? A player who almost always plays for India in T20 cricket found it hard to break into the RCB playing XI for two seasons running. Nevertheless, in IPL 2019, Sundar played 3 games, picking up 4 wickets at an economy rate of 8.24. His performances were always good and yet, RCB almost always dropped him after playing one game, which is very strange.

Sundar is a lanky bowling all-rounder, whose ability to contain the opposition batting with his off-spinners makes him unique. The 20-year-old is also a good enough batsman who can easily do a job at number 8 or number 7. Now that Mike Hesson and Simon Katich are in charge of RCB, we may see Sundar getting more opportunities and Virat Kohli, in particular, would be looking to give him more chances.
