The unique franchise-based format and the involvement of overseas players in an Indian league draw a ton of attention towards the tourney.

Twelve years down and IPL is the biggest T20 league of the world. One of the main reasons behind the league's success has been the persistence of the Indian board to keep the star Indian players exclusive to this league. Unlike other nations, the BCCI does not allow a contracted player to take part in a foreign tournament.

Besides, the foreign players have also used this event as a platform to showcase their talent to the world. Over the years, a lot of world-class players have associated themselves with the league.
