IPL Auction 2020: 3 Australian players who could be hot picks in this auction
With less than a month to go for the IPL auctions, every team is looking forward to striking a balance in their respective squads.
While going for domestic players provides them with options, the overseas players, on the other hand, will play a huge role in the outcome of the tournament. When it comes to the overseas players, Australian and the West Indian players have been largely successful in the IPL.
The Aussies, in particular, have been impressive in all departments and have won championships for their teams.
For instance, David Warner’s contribution with the bat in 2016 as well as Mike Hussey’s performance in 2013 led their respective teams to the final of the tournament.
Apart from the batting, the Australian bowlers are pretty familiar with these conditions and will find success in the upcoming season.
Let us take a look at three Australian players who could be a hot pick in the 2020 auction.
#3 Mitchell Starc
One of the best pacers of this decade, Mitchell Starc is a sure-shot hot pick for this auction. Given his ability with the ball, the franchises would be willing to pay a hefty amount to buy him.
He has been associated with these T20 leagues since 2011 when he was selected for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL. He was also part of the IPL from 2014 to 2016 representing RCB and contributed to the team’s success by taking 34 wickets in 27 games.
Unfortunately, frequent injuries have stopped him from taking part in the last three seasons. Given that he is in the perfect rhythm, he is someone who beats the batsman with pace in his first spell and comes back with toe-crushing yorkers in his second spell.
To further enunciate this, his strike rate in T20Is is 16.38 which pronounces his role in the squad. Teams looking for a leading pacer should go for him without an element of doubt.
