Mahendra Singh (MS) Dhoni is the heartbeat of the million Indian cricket fans who worship the Jharkhand-born player for his phenomenal contributions in building Indian men’s cricket as a dynamic force around the globe.


MS Dhoni, a shy ball hailing from the capital city of Jharkhand state which didn’t have any prominent names at that point, ended at the highest echelons of Indian cricket when he hanged his boots on August 15, 2020.   • MS Dhoni holds the record for most dismissals by an Indian wicketkeeper in ODIs - 444 (321 catches, 123 stumpings).Dhoni is behind Kumar Sangakkara (482 dismissals), Adam Gilchrist (472) and Mark Boucher (424) in ODI cricket.


  • Dhoni is the only Indian wicketkeeper to inflict six dismissals behind the wickets during a match against England in 2007.


  • Dhoni holds the record of most dismissals by an Asian wicketkeeper in an ODI series. During the Commonwealth Bank series 2007-08 Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara is the second on the list with 17 dismissals in one series.


  • Dhoni is the only wicketkeeper to inflict more than 100 stumpings in ODI cricket. Sangakkara, with 99 stumpings, is second on the list.


  • Dhoni happens to be the only Indian wicketkeeper to complete three stumpings in an innings that also three times in his career.


  • Dhoni conceded 24 runs in byes during the 2019 World Cup, which is the highest by any wicketkeeper in a World Cup.


  • Dhoni is the only Indian wicketkeeper to score more than 300 runs in an ODI series. He amassed 347 runs during the Commonwealth Bank series 2007/08.


  • Dhoni holds the record of highest individual score by any wicketkeeper in ODI cricket. His 183 not out against Sri Lanka in the 2005 is a benchmarks by any gloveman yet to breached in the 50-over format.


  • Dhoni is the only second wicketkeeper in the history of the game to reach 10000-run mark in ODIs after Kumar Sangakkara.


  • Dhoni holds the highest number of dismissals by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket - 294 (256 catches, 38 stumpings).


  • With 256 catches, Dhoni remains the only Indian wicketkeeper to pouch more than 200 Test catches.


  • Dhoni holds the record for most matches by a Indian captain-wicketkeeper in Test cricket - 60 matches.


  • Dhonis happens to be the first Indian wicketkeeper to surpass 4000 Test runs.


  • Dhoni is the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a double-ton in Test cricket.


  • MSD tops the charts with the most dismissals in T20 Internationals - 91 (57 catches, 34 stumpings).


  • Dhoni has collected the most catches (57) by a wicketkeeper and holds the record for most stumpings (34).


  • Dhoni has caught the most catches in an innings in T20Is - 5 against England in 2018.
