New Zealand and Bangladesh have squared off just twice over the last eight editions of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. On expected terms, the Kiwis have dominated the ledger, winning both the matches comprehensively.

The first encounter between these two teams took place in Pallekele during the 2012 edition. The match was dominated by Brendon McCullum, who smashed a breathtaking 123 off just 58 deliveries to knock the stuffing out of the Bangladeshi attack. His 123 is still the highest individual score in the history of the showpiece event.

Baz’s innings helped Kiwis post a formidable 3/191 in 20 overs, which proved to be way beyond Bangladesh’s reach.

The next meeting between New Zealand and Bangladesh proved to be another one-sided affair. Batting first, the Kiwis rode on solid knocks from Kane Williamson (42 off 31), Colin Munro (35 off 33), and Ross Taylor (28 off 24) on a sluggish Eden Gardens track to post 8/145 in 20 overs.

The total proved to be more than enough as Bangladesh batsmen had no answers to Grant Elliot (3/12 in 4 overs) and Ish Sodhi (3/21 in 3.4 overs) as they were bundled out for a mere 70 in 15.4 overs.
