Cricket fans have expressed amused reactions to the rain showers in Bengaluru ahead of the final league fixture of IPL 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, May 21.

RCB's last game of the season is scheduled at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match has the utmost significance for Faf du Plessis' men in their hopes to qualify for the playoffs.

RCB were fourth on the points table by the end of Saturday with 14 points from 13 matches. However, Mumbai Indians registered a thumping eight-wicket triumph against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mumbai on Sunday and pushed RCB to fifth.

The victory of Rohit Sharma's men not only eliminated Rajasthan Royals from the playoffs race but also forced RCB into a do-or-die situation against defending champions Gujarat Titans.

RCB's challenge is not only to overcome the Titans juggernaut but also the unfavourable weather conditions in Bengaluru. Since Sunday afternoon, the Silicon Valley of India observed drizzles in major parts of the city, including Cubbon Park, where the M.Chinnaswamy stadium is located.

The rain showers resulted in a wet outfield at the venue, and hence the toss was delayed despite the rain subsiding.

Many RCB and MI fans had mixed reactions to the rain showers before the game. Let's check some of them below :

How RCB vs GT will decide the final IPL 2023 playoffs spot?

Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants are the three teams to book their spot in the IPL 2023 playoffs. There were three contenders left for the last available slot.

Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were left in a must-win situation to decide their fate. Rajasthan Royals' (RR) hopes depended on both MI and RCB losing their respective games to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT).

RR were eliminated from the race after MI's win against SRH in Mumbai. A win for RCB against GT will confirm their place in the last four based on a superior net run rate (NRR). A loss for RCB or if they were forced to share points with the Titans will take Rohit Sharma's team to the playoffs.
