RR vs MI, IPL 2024 Toss result and playing XIs for today’s match, umpires list and pitch report

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are up against Mumbai Indians (MI) in match number 38 of IPL 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, April 22.

RR and MI experienced contrasting fortunes in the first half of the tournament. While Rajasthan are atop the points table, with six wins from seven matches, Mumbai are seventh, winning three of their seven matches.

Rajasthan Royals' only loss so far came against Gujarat Titans by three wickets in Jaipur. Since then, they have registered two close wins against Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets and two wickets respectively. Against KKR, they broke the record for the highest successful chase in the IPL.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have resurrected their IPL 2024 campaign after a disastrous start, winning three of their last four games. In their previous match against PBKS, they registered a nine-run win. MI went down to RR by six wickets in the first half of the competition, so they would be keen to make amends.

MI have won the toss and have opted to bat first. Captain Hardik Pandya said:

“Looks like a good wicket. It might slow up, did not see a lot of dew during the practice days, and so wanted to bat first.”

Mumbai have made three changes to their team. Nuwan Thushara, Nehal Wadhera and Piyush Chawla are in for Romario Shepherd, Akash Madhwal and Shreyas Gopal. For Rajasthan, Sandeep Sharma is back, while Kuldeep Sen misses out.

According to Brian Lara, the pitch looks very beautiful - it's dry, hard and even. There's not a lot of moisture in this pitch, which creates bounce, he added.
