The main event of UFC 299 was a highly anticipated bantamweight title clash between reigning champion Sean ‘Suga’ O'Malley and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera. They had a previous encounter at UFC 252 in August 2020, where Vera emerged victorious with a first-round TKO. In this fight, O'Malley emerged victorious via a unanimous decision.
A co-main event featured a five-round lightweight match between former interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier and rising lightweight contender Benoit Saint Denis.
