Cameron Smith

The 2022 Open Championship winner, Cameron Smith, is from Australia and was born on August 18, 1993. His father was a zero handicap golfer, and thus Smith became attached to the game from a young age, with his father helping him out. At the age of 11, he was coached by Australia's most esteemed golfer, Grant Field.

His first tour was the PGA Tour of Australasia after turning pro in 2013. However, his first professional win came at the 2017 Zurich Classic in New Orleans, sharing the lead with Jonas Nlixt. He defeated Scott Brown and Kevin Kisner with a score of 261, under 27 in a playoff.

He missed the BMW Championship, the second FedEx Cup Playoffs tournament, in August due to a hip concern. Following the 2022 PGA Tour season, he accepted the PGA Player of the Year award.
