He played college golf at the University of Georgia and had a standout amateur career, winning the 2011 Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational and the Stadion Athens Classic at UGA on the Nationwide Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour). English turned professional later that year, debuting on the Nationwide Tour, and earned his 2012 PGA Tour card after finishing T13 at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.
