Scottie Scheffler, a two-time major champion, is the world's top golfer as of April 2025, having held the position for more than 130 weeks (not consecutively). He won five amateur titles, including the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur, before attending the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated in 2018. Born in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Scheffler turned professional in the 2018 season, and in the seven years since, he has had 18 professional victories, 13 of which have come on the PGA Tour, as of April 2025.

In 2020, Scheffler was elected PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, and then in 2022 and 2023, he won the Money List and Player of the Year titles. Scheffler's most notable victories were the two straight Players Championship titles in 2023 and 2024 and the two Masters Tournament victories in 2022 and 2024. He also won the 2022 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Scheffler represented the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics, making his first appearance. He won a gold medal for finishing 19 under, which was a one-stroke margin over Tommy Fleetwood. He also represented the U.S. at the Ryder Cup two times, in 2021 and 2023, and the Presidents Cup in 2022 and 2024. Besides the 2023 Ryder Cup, the U.S. won the rest. Even as an amateur golfer, he participated in the 2012 Junior Ryder Cup, 2013 Spirit International, 2016 Eisenhower Trophy, and the 2017 Walker Cup.

After the 9/11 attacks, the family moved to Dallas, Texas, from Montvale, New Jersey, when Scheffler was six years old in 2002. Diane, his mother, worked as a COO at Thompson & Knight, a Dallas-based law firm, and Scott was a stay-at-home parent. Scheffler is the eldest of four children, the others being Molly, Sara, and Callie, all of whom play golf. In 2016, Scheffler participated in the amateur U.S. Open at Oakmont, where Callie caddied for him.

Scheffler told Golf Digest:

“When we moved to Dallas, it was pretty uncomfortable for my parents. Basically uprooted their whole lives, everything they knew, to come here where they didn’t really know anybody besides my mom’s boss.”
