As of March 2024, ranked No. 1 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), Scottie Scheffler, was born on June 21, 1996, in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He has held that spot for over 70 weeks (not consecutively).

Since turning pro in 2018, he has won 11 professional tournaments, including a Masters Tournament, a WGC event, two Players Championships, two Arnold Palmer Invitationals, and two WM Phoenix Opens.

His first tour was the Korn Ferry Tour, where he overcame Marcelo Rozo in a playoff game to capture his first professional victory at the Evan Scholars Invitational, and he also won the 2019 Player of the Year title.

He eventually won the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, earning a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2020 season. He was also the 2020 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.

His first PGA win came in the playoffs of the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, where he defeated Patrick Cantlay with a birdie on the third extra hole. They originally tied the total at 268 under 16.

In 2023, he won the Players Championship by five strokes over Tyrrell Hatton. The following year, he defeated Xander Schauffele, Brian Harman, and Wyndham Clark with a final score of 268, under 20, becoming the only golfer to successfully defend his title at the Players Championship. He also won the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Who are Scottie Scheffler's Parents?

Scottie Scheffler's parents are Scott and Diane Scheffler.

Four children were born to Scott and Diane: their oldest daughter, Callie, was born in 1994, and Scottie followed in 1996. Growing up, the couple's oldest children had a close relationship. Following the birth of Scottie, Scott and Diane welcomed Molly and Sara, their youngest daughters. Being one of four children, according to Scott, kept Scottie calm under pressure.

Scottie was born and raised in New Jersey, but after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he moved to Texas with his family. Diane got a job at a legal firm in Dallas, and Scott took on the caregiving role. The family joined Royal Oaks Country Club shortly after their relocation, and it was there that Scottie first got to know Randy Smith, his swing coach of many years.

Scottie began playing golf at the young age of three, and since then his parents have supported him as much as they can, in fact, Scott used to take all four of the kids to the Bergen Community College golf course in the evenings when they were living in New Jersey. Scott would hold a flashlight while Scottie shot balls into the dark night.

Growing up, Scott wanted to ensure his son didn't spend all of his time concentrating on golf and that he had a diverse range of interests. While acknowledging that he's no parenting "guru," Scott says he made an effort to assist Scottie in discovering other interests that would make him happy, such as playing basketball for his high school team.
