American professional golfer Samuel Holland Burns was born on July 23, 1996. Burns attended the Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he won three individual State Championships. He turned professional in 2017 after graduating from Louisiana State University. Todd Burns is the father of Sam. In an interview with Dave Senko of Valero Texas Open Media Center in March 2015, Sam discussed his hunting hobby and how he has spent hunting seasons with his father, Todd, during his childhood. He went on to say, "I probably enjoy that more than being on the golf course sometimes."
