Viktor Hovland is a professional golfer from Norway who now plays on the European and PGA Tours. He currently holds the No. 4 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking. In the 2020 Puerto Rico Open, he defeated Josh Teater by a single stroke to record his first victory on the PGA Tour.

Hovland participated in the 2023 PGA Championship and the Masters, but he was unable to secure his first major triumph. In the final round at Augusta, he shot 74 to tie for seventh place. After closing with a 68 at Oak Hill to win the PGA Championship, he was two shots behind Brooks Koepka, and Hovland finished runner-up.

Hovland won the Memorial Tournament in June 2023 after upsetting Denny McCarthy in a playoff match. The only player to birdie the 17th hole that day was Hovland, who did so to force a playoff.

Hovland recorded a course record of 61 in the final round to win the BMW Championship in August 2023 at Olympia Fields Country Club, which is located close to Chicago, Illinois. On his final round scorecard, he had twelve threes.

In 2023, he won the FedEx Cup and the Tour Championship the following week. He emerged as the third-youngest FedEx Cup victor.

Viktor Hovland’s Driver

Hovland makes excellent use of a Ping G425 LST driver at the top of the bag, and he now pairs it with a Fujikura Speeder TR 661 TX shaft.

Given a few unlucky incidents, the driver's slot in Hovland's bag has been the most turbulent. Hovland gave it to Danny Lee to use on the driving range in Mayakoba in November 2021, after which it broke.

James Hahn provided a substitute, which Hovland used to win the match. Once more in 2022, while traveling to Hawaii for the Sentry Tournament of Champions, Hovland's driver again broke by Delta Airlines.

Viktor Hovland’s Fairways

Next, Hovland's carrying a Fujikura Ventus Blue 7X shafted TaylorMade Stealth Plus fairway wood. Every now and again, he also carries a Ping G430 Max seven-wood.

The G430 Max has roughly 18 degrees of loft, in addition to the 15 degrees that we know the Stealth has. It has a Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 8X shaft installed, and it enters and exits the setup based on the course and weather.

Viktor Hovland’s Hybrid

After using the Callaway Apex UW for some time, he now uses a Ping G425 model, which has about 19 degrees of loft, on occasion.

The thin, maraging steel face of the Ping G425 hybrid is identical to that of the Ping G410, its predecessor. It has Ping's Facewrap design technology, which works throughout the club's sole and crown to promote an effortless launch and longer shots, in addition to producing high ball speeds. Typically, a Fujikura Ventus Blue 9 X shaft is installed.

Viktor Hovland’s Irons

Hovland has modified his iron setup lately. He has been testing a prototype set of Ping i59 irons and frequently carries a Titleist U505 utility iron. These, though, seem to have been replaced by a pair of Ping i210s. They use KBS Tour 120 X shafts and range from four irons to pitching wedges.

Hovland actually does something quite cool with his i210's to cause them to fly a little lower when he plays in the wind. His lofts are increased by 0.5 degrees, and all of his clubs—aside from the putter—are shortened by a quarter-inch. The ball travels lower as a result of the clubs' reduction in spin and the lofts' movement, which improves ball speed.

Viktor Hovland’s Wedges

Hovland has two wedges, a 50 and a 56 (bent to 55) Ping Glide 4.0. His other wedge is a Ping Glide 2.0, which is 60 degrees. The Ping Glide 4.0 wedge appears amazing in Golf Monthly's testing, particularly in the more conventional teardrop shape that comes in three of the four sole variations.

The easiest thing to notice, though, was how simple it was to spin the golf ball. The ball sat to attention faster than most new wedges, even when making shots that came off a little hotter and lower than anticipated.

Viktor Hovland’s Putter

Ultimately, prior to transferring to Hovland’s present flat-stick, the Ping PLD DS 72, he had been making use of a Ping Sigma 2 Wolverine H model and a TaylorMade TP Black Copper Mullen 2 DB SS putter.

Viktor Hovland’s Golf Ball

Hovland told Titleist he was an avid supporter of the Titleist Pro V1, especially for chipping on the greens. He enjoyed the spin, launch angles, and general feel of the prior version, so it was fortunate that he didn't find it performed much differently when testing it with other clubs like the driver and irons.
