Mikel Arteta is eager to see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sign a new contract at Arsenal but concedes that the north London giants have not opened any discussions with the striker yet. The Gabon international, whose contract with the Gunners will expire in 2021, has been heavily linked with a departure from the Emirates after reports claimed he is unhappy with the club's general direction.
The 30-year-old has since refuted those claims and Arteta hopes a contract extension is on the cards. The Spaniard said, "I was very pleased to read those comments. He knows exactly what I think about him and obviously he's a massive player for us. But at the moment we're in the middle of the season and we haven't discussed anything further on that at the club."

Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has claimed that his client has no interest in leaving Real Madrid for the MLS during the January transfer window. The Wales international continues to be linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Inter Miami, and LA Galaxy all credited with an interest in the winger.

West Ham United have reportedly made a revised offer for Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes amid heavy interest from fellow Premier League club Chelsea.
According to Sky Sports, the Hammers initially offered the Primeira Liga outfit an 18-month loan with an obligation to buy for £33 million but are now believed to have put forward an improved deal. Meanwhile, the Blues are also understood to have made an offer of their own comprising of an 18-month loan with an option to buy for £55 million. 
Benfica are scheduled to hold a board meeting on Thursday to discuss the final conditions of West Ham's proposed deal for the midfielder.
