The combo of vampires and Minecraft may not seem like a wise one, but this assumption couldn't be further from the truth. Although vampirism and its pros and cons won't be found in the vanilla game, several well-developed vampire mods see players battling (or even transforming into) a sanguine creature of the night. Either way, players might be surprised at how entertaining vampire mods can be.

Each Minecraft vampire mod brings along its own unique viewpoint and gameplay mechanics surrounding vampires. All the same, they make the game a bit more intriguing and exciting, and many vampire mods can be pretty challenging as well.

With that having been said, it doesn't hurt to take a look at some of the best Minecraft vampire mods for players who are looking for a bloodthirsty twist to their experience.

Five of the best Minecraft vampire mods worth checking out

1) Vampirism

Arguably one of (if not the most) comprehensive Minecraft vampire mod, Vampirism allows players to take part in a struggle between the undead legion of vampires and the hunters who pursue them. After being bitten by a vampire mob or consuming vampire blood via injection, players can slowly begin transforming into vampires, enhancing their powers with some substantial drawbacks.

As with many other vampire mods, those who complete their dark turn to vampirism will be susceptible to the sun and will need blood to survive. However, this burden provides the ability to create more vampires by turning mobs and also using vampiric rituals to grow in power and gain new and powerful abilities like teleportation, a bat form, and more thanks to the vampiric skill tree.

However, if players don't want to succumb to vampirism, they can join the order of vampire hunters. This allows them to grow in strength and access new weapons and tools as they defeat more vampires, working toward the goal of obliterating the scourge of vampirism once and for all.

2) Haema

Although somewhat more slimmed down compared to Vampirism, Haema is a solid Minecraft vampire mod. By crafting a Book of Blood, players can learn to track down vampire blood and convert it into a vampire, where they'll slowly learn abilities via rituals to gain access to enhanced Night Vision, invisibility, and enhanced strength and health totals while also not being able to die conventionally.

Vampires in Haema can still die, primarily through things like the sun, wooden swords (the closest thing to wooden stakes), and the Smite enchantment since it damages undead mobs. Players can feed from various mobs, but they'll have to be careful, as feeding on certain mobs will result in a call for aid from vampire hunter mobs that will attack players on sight.

3) Ripples of the Past

Although it's technically a mod inspired by the manga/anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Ripples of the Past nonetheless introduces vampirism by way of the Stone Mask, which can be found in jungle pyramid structures. Much like JoJo's Dio Brando, the Stone Mask bestows vampirism along with benefits like creating undead followers while also bestowing vampiric power to others.

Like in other vampiric mods, vampirism in Ripples of the Past leads to players having a deadly aversion to sunlight. It dominion over others isn't enough to whet your appetite, this mod also introduces the ability to use Hamon energy to battle the undead, and even summon some of the Stands from the JoJo's series including Star Platinum, The World, and Silver Chariot.

4) Origins: Vampire

Despite being an add-on for the popular Origins mod for Minecraft, Origins: Vampire has plenty of uniqueness to bring to the table. Players can enter worlds and choose to have the powers of a vampire origin or that of a vampire lord. Standard vampires have the benefit of not needing to breathe to survive, transportation via bat form, immunity to poison and freezing effects, and rapid healing.

Meanwhile, vampire lords gain even more impressive capabilities including massive wings and the ability to detect living prey and determine whether they're hostile or not. However, vampirism brings downsides as it always does, which manifests in this unique Minecraft mod as a weakness to fire and sunlight as well as being susceptible to wooden weapons and the pangs of bloodlust.

5) Blood Magic + Vampire Magic

While the Blood Magic mod isn't quite a Minecraft vampire mod on its own, it does offer the ability to harness blood and use it as a resource for powerful new magicks. Additionally, the Vampire Magic addon for the Blood Magic mod provides a much more vampiric angle to gameplay, allowing players to replenish hunger points by consuming blood from the base mod's blood altar.

By combining blood consumption and wielding blood-based magic, these two mods work in tandem with each other to create a unique, more magical take on the contemporary vampire archetype.
