Awaji Unabara was the son of Sanzui Unabara, the daimyo of the Land of Water, in the Boruto world. He first appeared in Boruto episode 233 with the title, The New Team 7 Jumps into Action.

The details of Awaji Unabara's past are rather mysterious. Very little is known about his upbringing or his skills. In the anime, he only made a few brief appearances. He is just a part of the Boruto anime and does not appear or receive any mentions in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga, making him a non-canon character in the series.
He made his anime debut in the Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure Arc of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in episode 233, "The New Team 7 Jumps into Action." Awaji was introduced in the series as the son of Sanzui Unabara, the Land of Water daimyo.
In the arc, Sanzui addressed the audience at the Shinonome 1 power plant's unveiling ceremony and explained how it will calm the nation's troubled waterways while also increasing the nation's energy production. Afterward, Awaji boarded the first airship that would transport the audience to the Shinonome 1. But shortly after takeoff, it crashed and exploded, killing Awaji and the other passengers. This incident gave rise to a conflict and gave sparked a war. When the war this incident started was over, Sanzui pushed Kirigakure (Village Hidden in the Mist) to punish the Funato clan severely.
Awaji Unabara's appearance was quite limited, hence not much is known about him or his character. Unfortunately, Awaji met his demise shortly after being introduced in the series. Due to his minimal appearance, what personality he possessed is unknown. Based on his minimal appearance, it can be said that Awaji adored and respected his father.
Awaji was a young man with well-groomed short grey hair and grayish eyes with dark pupils. He was dressed in a dark jacket with a golden lining on the front, two golden rings on each sleeve, golden shoulder pads with a high-collared white shirt underneath. He paired this with matching pants and black shoes.
Awaji is of royal blood and is the son of the Feudal Lord of the Land of Water. He did not undergo the crucial training to be a shinobi and thus did not possess any battle skills or tactics. Even if he possessed any abilities, those are still unknown.
