Konohagakure

The Uchiha and the Senju clan had been at war for years. They always attacked each other, and the casualties always ended up being dear ones of the clan members. This egged the war further, which made it seem as if there was no end. That was when Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju met, and the two me had been brothers in a previous life. This connected them to each other and thus they formed an alliance between the Senju and Uchiha. It created the Hidden Leaf Village with Hashirama Senju was chosen as their leader thanks to his wood release technique and ideals.

However, Madara distrusted Hashirama and thought he would undermine the Uchiha clan. He waged war alone against Hashirama and lost with Madara assumed to have died in the process. Furthermore, because of this battle, the Hidden Leaf obtained possession of the Nine Tails, Kurama.

The Hidden Leaf Village has a lot of rich history behind it. The intention of the formation of the village was to promote peace and to remove the concept of war at all. Hashirama even binded the tailed beasts and gave them as offerings of peace to other villages. However, this peace was short lived as the First Shinobi war would also take Hashirama’s life.

Eventually over the years, two other wars broke out and Konoha was about to lose the last one when Minato Namikaze stepped in and turned the war in their favour. He was then appointed as the fourth Hokage but a mysterious figure, claiming to be Madara Uchiha, attacked the Leaf village. During this battle, Minato lost his life while sealing the Nine Tails in his son.

The Leaf village blamed the Uchiha clan for the Nine Tails’ attack and, frustrated, they planned a coup d'état. Danzo tried to negotiate with them but upon failure ordered Itachi Uchiha to wipe out the entire Uchiha clan in return for sparing his younger brother, Sasuke Uchiha.

About a decade later, the Hidden Leaf Village was attacked by Orochimaru, one of the three legendary Saninn and Gaara, the Jinchuriki of the One Tails. Both of them were defeated by Hiruzen Sarutobi and Naruto Uzumaki respectively but Hiruzen lost his life in the process.

A few years later, the village gets attacked by Pain, a member of the Akatsuki. The entire village gets destroyed but no one loses their life thanks to Naruto Uzumaki. The village had to be rebuilt from scratch as Pain had wiped it out completely.

There have been a total of seven Hokage in the history of the Hidden Leaf Village, including the Boruto series. They are as follows:

Hashirama Senju

Hashirama Senju is one of the most powerful shinobi ever. With his wood release technique, he could easily crush a fully armoured Susanoo. He also mastered the Sage technique, which made him much stronger than the average shinobi.

Tobirama Senju

Hashirama’s brother. Although he hated the Uchiha, he still maintained the peace that his brother had established and followed his principles. He invented numerous techniques, including the Shadow Clone technique and the teleportation technique.

Hiruzen Sarutobi

He was the disciple of both Hashirama and Tobirama. Hiruzen was appointed as the Hokage by Tobirama right before he left to fight a battle in which he would die. Hiruzen was known as the God of Shinobi and contributed a lot to the shinobi world, including training the three legendary Sannin.

Minato Namikaze

Renowned as the Konoha’s Yellow Flash, Minato Namikaze was a prodigy. As he grew up, his arsenal of jutsus only grew stronger. He was known as the quickest Shinobi ever and could take on armies in a flash. He invented the technique Rasengan which was inspired by the tailed beast bombs. He would meet his demise while sealing the Nine Tailed Fox, in his son, after it attacked the village.

Tsunade Senju

The granddaughter of Hashirama Senju, Tsunade was a shinobi known for her raw strength in addition to her exceptional skills as a medical ninja. She was one of the three legendary Sannin who had stopped being a ninja because of two traumatic incidents in her fast. However, she was persuaded by Naruto Uzumaki and Jiraiya to take her position as the Fifth Hokage.

Kakashi Hatake

Belonging to the Hatake Clan, Kakashi Hatake was known as ‘Kakashi of the Sharingan’ and the ‘Copy Ninja’. He was mentored by Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage as a child and could copy almost any ninjutsu he came across alongside his huge arsenal of skills. He also invented the Chidori, a sharp blade-like lightning style attack and was appointed the Hokage after the Fourth Ninja War.

Naruto Uzumaki

The reincarnation of Asura, Naruto Uzumaki was the jinchuriki of the Nine-tails from the day he was born. Although he was hated by every adult in the village for being a Jinchuuriki, he worked hard to gain everyone’s approval. The village’s opinion of him changed after he rescued the village from Pain and he was also one of the reasons why the shinobi world survived the fourth Ninja war. Naruto is assumed to be the strongest Hokage to date.

The Hidden Leaf Village has a lot of reputed and highly respected clans. However, it is not entirely known exactly how many clans are in the Hidden Leaf village because of the sheer number. Of these clans, there are four clans which sit at the forefront that are known as the noble clans – Aburame, Akimichi, Hyūga and Uchiha clans. A. This can not be answered fairly due to there being an unknown amount of shinobi in the other villages. However, the Hidden Leaf Village has an enormous amount of prodigies, which points to it being the strongest.
