San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has announced himself well in the NFL after a mesmerizing 35-7 victory over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14.

Purdy took over as the starter for the injury-stricken Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins and continued the excellent start to his NFL career with 185 yards passing, two touchdowns, and rushing for another score against Tampa.

Purdy was 'Mr. Irrelevant' in the 2022 NFL Draft, being the last player selected in the entire draft, but a brilliant start to his pro career could see him as the starter going forward.

Why Brock Purdy could be the 49ers' starting QB NFL

#1 - 49ers' scheme

One of the main reasons Brock Purdy could become the 49ers' starting quarterback is due to the scheme run by head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Shanahan is one of the most creative minds in football and is notorious for not asking too much of his quarterbacks, be it Trey Lance, Jimmy Garoppolo, or Brock Purdy.

Even in the 35-7 blowout win over the Buccaneers, Purdy was only asked to pass 21 times for 185 yards. His 8.8 yards per completion displays his big play potential, but Shanahan doesn't need his quarterback to be Patrick Mahomes every week.

#2 - Weapons

Another reason Purdy can put up a solid case for becoming the full-time starter in San Francisco is the weapons he has to work with.

Purdy will have Christian McCaffrey in the backfield, as well as George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk to throw to as he adapts to the NFL.

A rookie quarterback arguably couldn't have asked for better offensive pieces, and the trio can only help Purdy's chances as he looks to be the long-term starter for the 49ers.

#3 - Adaptability

Purdy has already shown his adaptability in the NFL, which is something that could come in very handy in his bid to become the starter for San Francisco.

Coming in for the injured Jimmy Garoppolo at a moment's notice against Miami in Week 13, Purdy passed for 210 yards and two touchdowns in his first career game as the 49ers won 33-17.

Then, just a week later, Purdy went up against Tom Brady and helped San Francisco blow the Buccaneers out, winning 35-7.

Being able to adapt is something that all NFL players have to get used to. They're often faced with adversity, and as Purdy has already shown his ability to do just that, he has a bright future in the NFL.
