Aaron Rodgers injury update: How long is the Packers QB out for?

Aaron Rodgers is currently battling a ribcage injury that prematurely cut his Sunday evening short. This came after starting with a broken thumb. Rodgers left the game against the Philadelphia Eagles after the third quarter. Jordan Love took over under center and played well in difficult circumstances.

After the game, Rodgers clarified to reporters that he had hurt his ribs and feared a punctured lung. The team reported an oblique injury. After leaving, he proceeded to the dressing room for X-rays. Rodgers claimed that it wasn't evident from them whether he had shattered any ribs.

Prior to Sunday's game, Aaron Rodgers had not missed any action due to injury. This is one of a few positive aspects of a disappointing season with the Green Bay Packers.

Following the game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said he wasn't ready to speculate on whether Rodgers would be sidelined for any period. He also wouldn't say whether he thought Rodgers would be ready for their next game against the Chicago Bears.

Rodgers will almost certainly play in Week 13. As long as the Packers have a mathematical chance to make it to the playoffs, expect to see Aaron Rodgers under center. Unless, of course, there is some form of setback in training or another big hit during a game.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are not quite out of playoff contention

As per FiveThirtyEight, the 3-8 Packers have a 3% chance of making the playoffs. Even if Green Bay prevail and end the regular season 9-8, their model predicts that the Packers will only reach the postseason 47% of the time. The Packers require outside assistance to get to the playoffs but are mathematically still in the race at the moment.

Upon further examination of his injuries, Rodgers stated on Tuesday's Pat McAfee Show:

"I got positive news on the scans yesterday, so I plan to play this week."

It is thought that the tests did not disclose any additional damage as Rodgers did not mention anything. In this week's game versus the Chicago Bears, he is a low-end QB1 for fantasy. In the past two games for the Packers, Rodgers has scored 19 fantasy points.

Aaron Rodgers' Week 12 stats

Before leaving the field on Sunday, Rodgers completed 11 of 16 throws for 140 yards and two TDs. He also threw two interceptions in the first half for the second time in four games. It brought his season total for interceptions to nine, which is already the most since he threw 11 in 2010.

Rodgers has a fantastic record of beating the Bears and will be desperate to beat them once again. We will see if risking himself with multiple injuries against a team he proclaims to own is a wise choice. This one could be an interesting watch.
