Baltimore Ravens vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game summary
The Buccaneers began the game on a dominant note, as Baker Mayfield found Mike Evans wide open for a touchdown.
Afterward, the defense sacked Lamar Jackson twice, forcing the Ravens to punt. Evans almost threw another touchdown in the ensuing drive, this time to Chris Godwin; but a holding penalty on Tristan Wirfs negated it, and Chase McLaughlin eventually had to be called in for a field goal.
The Ravens began the second quarter with a vengeance, as Jackson found a wide-open Mark Andrews for six, the tight end surpassing Todd Heap for the all-time franchise record:
Then they got another highlight, when Marlon Humphrey intercepted Mayfield in the endzone. The ensuing drive ended in a touchdown by Justice Hill:
And then Humphrey intercepted Mayfield again. The drive became a Justin Tucker field goal.
The second half began with an extraordinary drive by the Ravens. On a second down, Zay Flowers inadvertently deflected a snap while in motion, causing Lamar Jackson to bobble the football and get sacked for a massive loss.
However, Justice Hill exploded for an 18-yard catch on third-down, entering field goal range and allowing Justin Tucker to come in and hit a 52-yarder.
The Buccaneers’ first drive of the second half ended with Chase McLaughlin missing a 55-yarder. They paid dearly for it when Jackson found Rashod Bateman for a very long touchdown on the next drive.
On their next drive, the Buccaneers were forced to punt for the first time in the game after Baker Mayfield ate a third-down sack. They paid dearly for it again when Andrews caught his second touchdown of the night on fourth down.
The Buccaneers then caught a break after Zyon McCollum recovered a botched lateral to Zay Flowers and almost returned it for a touchdown, only to be ruled down by contact. But they would eventually get the six via Rachaad White, as well a two-point conversion by Sterling Shepard.
Derrick Henry, who had made an impact earlier with an 81-yard run, responded with a 13-yard touchdown catch. Another running back, Bucky Irving, scored on the next drive to reduce the deficit to 17; but Baker Mayfield was sacked on the two-point attempt. The Buccaneers then recovered their own onside kick and turned that into another White touchdown.
The game ended when Mayfield was tackled on a third-down rushing attempt before going out of bounds.
