Brandin Cooks injury update: Latest on Cowboys WR for Fantasy Football Week 13

Brandin Cooks is one of the most accomplished players on the Dallas Cowboys' roster. The wideout has amassed six 1000+ yards seasons in his career and was signed by the Cowboys in 2023 to serve as a serviceable pass catcher alongside CeeDee Lamb.

With the Cowboys' Week 13 game around the corner, let's take a look at his availability.

Brandin Cooks' injury update

According to CBS Sports, Brandin Cooks remains on the injured reserve due to a knee injury. The veteran wide receiver did not participate in Tuesday's practice session ahead of his side's Week 13 game against the New York Giants.

Cooks has been sidelined since Week 5. The Oregon State product's surgically repaired knee got infected after arthroscopic surgery. He has since missed games against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders.

Cooks has been sorely missed by the Cowboys as the team needs a decent running mate for CeeDee Lamb. It has made the team's offense rather predictable and led to numerous unfavorable scorelines.

Cooks might be in the later years of his career, but he's still a handful for opposing secondaries anytime he gets the ball on his hands or while he's making complex route running look easy. There's a reason why Mike McCarthy was so eager to bring him on board ahead of the previous season.

How has Brandin Cooks performed in 2024?

Brandin Cooks was having a decent but unspectacular season before he got hurt. The veteran pass catcher had amassed a stat line of nine catches, 91 receiving yards and one touchdown in four games.

These stats might not pop out of the sheet, but it's important to note that the Cowboys were still figuring out their offensive identity in the ongoing season, and then he suffered a serious injury that landed him on the injured reserve.

The Cowboys need to perform better in Cooks' absence. They lost games against the Lions, 49ers, Falcons, Eagles and Texans. They'll need to improve their performances in the last weeks of the season to give themselves a fighting chance to make the postseason.
