Brett Maher contract: How much is the Cowboys kicker's salary?

Washington Commanders v Dallas Cowboys
Brett Maher #19 of the Dallas Cowboys and Bryan Anger #5 of the Dallas Cowboys look onward during warm ups against the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium on October 02, 2022 in Arlington, Texas.

The Dallas Cowboys' placekicker, Brett Maher, earns $965,000 per season to score extra points and make kicks for the Cowboys. The 33-year-old special teams standout was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2013. However, Maher made a name for himself playing for the Cowboys rather than the Jets in the National Football League (NFL).

During the offseason preceding the 2023 NFL season, he signed a one-year, $965,000 deal to play for the Cowboys. This is his fifth season playing for the Dallas powerhouse, and he has always given them a reason to re-sign him.

RSR Sports Management represents Maher, and they will likely be leading negotiations when he becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2023 NFL season.

Who is the best-paid placekicker in the NFL?

Justin Tucker is currently on the best placekicker contract in the National Football League, and it's only natural. Many see Tucker as the greatest kicker ever to step foot on the gridiron, and he is paid as such.

The Baltimore Ravens recently signed Tucker to a multi-year contract worth $24,000,000 over the next four years. $17.5 million is guaranteed, so you can see that the GOAT kicker is set for life. The best part about the deal is that Tucker is still in his early thirties, and kickers are known to play up their forties. As such, Tucker will be terrorizing poles and making millions over many years.

Brett Maher's fantasy outlook

Brett Maher had a superb fantasy football season by kicker standards, with the Dallas Cowboys placekicker ranked as the third kicker in the 2022 regular season. He came in third behind pro kickers Justin Tucker and Daniel Carlson. Maher has the most team-friendly contract out of the three.

Maher averaged 9.5 fantasy football points per game, the same as Carlson this season. Maher is part of one of the league's most potent offenses in Dallas, and he hardly ever shies away from his duties as their designated kicker.

How is Brett Maher performing this season?

Brett Maher had a phenomenal regular season for the Dallas Cowboys, with the league veteran putting up solid stats across the board. He made 90.6% of his field goal attempts and 94.3% of his extra-point attempts. His statistical output gave him a top-three ranking among the placekickers in the league.

However, his 2023 playoff debut couldn't have gone any worse. The normally reliable Maher had a nightmare of a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Maher attempted four extra-point conversions and missed all four of them. That is an NFL record that he wouldn't want to emphasize going into postseason contract negotiations.
