Super Bowl game finalist C.J. Gardner-Johnson is the player you'll love when he's on your team but hate when you're playing against.

Gardner-Johnson is a polarising safety that tends to get in your face, but that tenacity has made him very valuable in his NFL career. The disgruntled former Philadelphia Eagles' star safety is looking for a new team, and the options are getting limited by the day.

However, there are NFL teams that would still love to have a player of C.J. Gardner-Johnson's ilk. So without further ado, here are three teams that should make a move for the ex-New Orleans and Philadelphia Eagles safety/slot cornerback.

Three NFL teams that should move for C.J. Gardner-Johnson

The following teams, in no particular order, are possible landing spots for C.J. Gardner-Johnson:

#1 Philadelphia Eagles

When he was fit in 2022, Gardner-Johnson proved to be one of the finer safeties in the league.

His versatility in the NFL is mind-boggling, becoming increasingly positionless with time. Philadelphia lost Marcus Epps, T.J. Edwards and Javon Hargrave this offseason. Heading into 2023 with two fresh starters on the back end is asking a lot.

Gardner-Johnson was quickly one of the best defenders in Philly last season, and his teammates never shied away from giving him his flowers. Along with the likes of Darius Slay and James Bradberry, Gardner-Johnson struck fear into the hearts of the opposition.

He could be a nice re-addition to the Eagles if they convinces him to take a team-friendly deal. It would also be a good idea to run it back in Philly.

#2 Detroit Lions

While the Lions have Tracy Walker and Kerby Joseph, Walker has an out on his contract in 2024. The league will feature more than three safety personnel groupings moving forward, and we can’t imagine a more fun fit than Gardner-Johnson with Dan Campbell.

Furthermore, the Lions have the cap space to give Gardner-Johnson what he wants in the fair market. If he moves to Detroit, he could easily be the best safety/cornerback on the team. His intangibles are unlimited, and his Super Bowl experience could help the younger players on the Lions.

#3 Miami Dolphins

We all know just how dangerous the Dolphins are on offense, but unfortunately, their defense leaves a lot to be desired. Just imagine how impressive a secondary consisting of Gardner-Johnson and Jalen Ramsey would look. That would be enough to make the Dolphins legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Miami has the attributes to be competitive, making them a valid threat in the conference. Adding C.J. Gardner-Johnson could be a home run for the Dolphins.
