Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears faced off against Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders in an exciting Week 8 matchup on Sunday. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft clashed against the No. 2 overall selection, but they weren't the ones who stole the show for most of the game.
The Bears and Commanders' defense played at a high level, with only nine points being scored at halftime and 18 for the rest of the game.
Williams stumbled against the Commanders, as he couldn't connect with wide receivers as much as he would have liked and needed to rely on the rushing game.
The Commanders won the duel 18-15 on a hail mary by Jayden Daniels, giving a major blow to the Bears after they took the lead with 0:23 left on the clock in the fourth quarter.

Williams' numbers weren't as spectacular as Daniels and perhaps a poor connection with the receivers cost the Bears a better chance at winning the game.

Caleb Williams has been inconsistent this season. He's yet to show his best version in Chicago. The only touchdown the Bears scored came from D'Andre Swift and it happened with less than a minute on the clock in the fourth quarter.
Completing 10 of 24 passes is unacceptable for a player of his caliber and with all the expectations that surrounded him entering the league.
The defense and rushing game kept the Bears in the matchup while the Commanders only had to settle for field goals in the first three quarters of the game.
D'Andre Swift was on a tear, amassing 129 rushing yards on 18 carries while getting a touchdown. Caleb Williams ran the ball 10 times for 41 rushing yards, but that wasn't enough for the Bears to win the game.
Daniels won the first of many duels between them and the Commanders' defense put Williams against the ropes.
