Listing Chargers' worst draft picks over the past decade

Let's take a look at five draft picks the Chargers fan base probably wishes the front office didn't make:

#5 Jeremiah Attaochu - 50th overall, 2014 NFL Draft

Attaochu was expected to contribute on the defensive side of the ball. However, he mainly featured on special teams, starting just 13 games in his first four seasons for the Chargers.

Furthermore, he amassed a paltry 10 sacks and never secured a second contract with the Chargers. He came back to play two games in 2022, but his spell in Los Angeles was largely forgettable.

#4 Forrest Lamp - 38th overall, 2017 NFL Draft

After the 2017 Draft, the Chargers had struck gold with the Forrest Lamp selection. Many viewed Lamp as a lottery-level lottery-level talent, and fitness issues made him slip down the draft board.

However, these same pre-draft injury concerns affected him during his time with the Chargers. Lamp amassed just two starts in his first three years in the NFL. He left the Chargers after a forgettable 2020 season and has since become a forgotten player in the league.

#3 Tre' McKitty - 97th overall, 2021 NFL Draft

Georgia Bulldogs offensive players are typically tailor-made for the rigors of NFL football. However, Tre' McKitty never got going in Los Angeles.

The third-round pick in the 2021 Draft never settled in Los Angeles, and he was off the roster by 2023. Tre' McKitty never scored a touchdown during his time with the Chargers.

#2 Kenneth Murray - 23rd overall, 2020 NFL Draft

While on the Chargers, Kenneth Murray was one of the most disliked players by the team's fanbase. The linebacker never adapted to the Chargers system, and he's one of the biggest misses in Tom Telesco's tenure.

The Chargers didn't pick up Murray's fifth-year option and lost the former first-round pick for nothing.

#1 Jerry Tillery, 28th overall, 2019 NFL Draft

Tillery was so disappointed during his stint with Los Angeles that the Chargers didn't bother picking up his fifth-year option. To exacerbate matters, he signed for sworn rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chargers' fan base will certainly not be wishing Tillery luck shortly. His draft selection is an example of how not to pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
