Dalton Kincaid injury update: Latest on Bills TE after Week 2 hit

Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid was projected as a buy-low tight end given the state of the Bills' offense heading into 2024. Across two games so far in the season, Kincaid has failed to repay the faith fantasy football, dropping single-digit returns against the Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins despite the Bills getting the W.

However, Bills fans pointed out a potential cause for concern when Kincaid hit the floor against the Dolphins on Thursday night. Here's the latest on Kincaid's injury status after Week 2 Thursday Night Football.

Dalton Kincaid injury update

Kincaid looked on his way to registering a decent fantasy return but soon after he caught two passes on the Bills' first drive of the night, Kincaid took a hit from a Dolphins defender.

Slow-motion footage of the tackle showed Kincaid hitting the ground and taking a stray knee to the helmet in the aftermath. After the tackle, the Bills pulled Kincaid for the final play of their scoring drive which was a touchdown pass to James Cook on fourth-and-three.

Kincaid eventually returned to the field before the first quarter ended after being tested for a concussion and being cleared to return.

Dalton Kincaid's fantasy projection

Kincaid played 15 snaps after being tested for a concussion which raises a question regarding his potential to deliver a decent return in fantasy football. All in all, he played 42% of the snaps last night. Meanwhile, Dawson Knox played 53% of the snaps so it doesn't exactly make for positive reading when it comes to Dalton Kincaid's fantasy projection. By the end of the night, Kincaid had four receptions for 33 yards.

At this point, it makes sense to think twice before starting Kincaid going forward. He still features in the Bills' passing offense but the numbers aren't remotely exciting enough to signal better fantasy returns ahead.

That said, it's still Week 2. The Bills' upcoming schedule sees them face the Jaguars, Ravens, Texans and Jets which isn't exactly a breezy run of games to rack up points.

But if you have him on your roster, you'd be selling low and it's not likely the waiver wire will solve your issues (unless there's an Isaiah Likely on there which, after Week 1, isn't all that... likely.)
