Life can change in an instant and one can argue that it did for DeAndre Hopkins when he left the Titans for the Chiefs. Leaving a team with a single win to go to an organization yet to lose this year is a significant upgrade.

He knew that he had been brought in to cover for injuries to their existing wide receivers, and it was up to him to contribute to maintaining Kansas City's unbeaten record. And he delivered on that promise in spades.

In the first half against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, he caught a touchdown pass to ensure that the Chiefs took a 10-7 lead after trailing 7-3 in the second quarter. DeAndre Hopkins added to his tally in the fourth quarter with another go-ahead score that gave the home team a 24-17 lead with the rain pelting down.

DeAndre Hopkins is now on his fourth team and it is fair to say that he has never played with a better quarterback than Patrick Mahomes.

Playing against the Buccaneers showed why Kansas City went for him over others when they needed a top wide receiver. Last week, he had no receptions in the endzone and recorded a measly 29 yards against the Raiders. But tonight, he immediately made himself available and got free time and again for Patrick Mahomes to throw to.

It culminated in his first touchdown when the quarterback connected with him in the endzone at the end of a drive.

However, he was not done yet. DeAndre Hopkins came back in the second half and looked sharp. After Samaje Perine caught a touchdown pass to make the score 17-17, the Chiefs had a chance to go into the lead in the fourth quarter. When Patrick Mahomes looked for an open receiver in a third-and-goal situation, the veteran wide receiver was free yet again.

The former Titans wide receiver looked liberated to be playing in an Andy Reid offense. Going into the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter, he had seven receptions from seven targets. The first pass that did not connect with him came during the final hurry-up drive as Kansas City looked to win the game in regulation time with the score 24-24.

Before overtime, DeAndre Hopkins's stats read seven catches for 71 yards and two touchdowns on eight targets. An average of 10.1 yards per attempt was good and his longest play was 35 yards. He was a useful tool in overtime too when he caught a pass and got them a crucial first down to continue the drive. It led to a walk-off overtime touchdown to preserve the Chiefs' unbeaten record.
