DeMeco Ryans has become the talk of the town. The San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator is being linked with a return to the Houston Texans, this time as head coach.

Ryans has been part of the Niners' coaching staff for the past six years, but prior to that, he played in the NFL for 10 seasons. Over the course of his playing career, the former linebacker made a considerable fortune.

According to reports, Ryans is worth a whopping $33 million as of January 2023. He earned a total of $48,920,000 while playing for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles.

The linebacker was initially picked by the Texans in the 2006 NFL Draft and signed a four-year deal with the team worth $4,160,000. He then signed a mammoth six-year extension worth $46,800,000 with the franchise in 2010.

However, Ryans was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012, where he signed a two-year extension in 2015 before eventually hanging up his cleats in 2017.

While Ryans' salary with the Niners as a defensive coordinator has not been revealed, it is reported teams in the NFL pay between $3.5 million-$4.5 million to their defensive coordinators.

DeMeco Ryans began his coaching career with the San Francisco 49ers as a defensive quality control coach in 2017. He was promoted to the team's inside linebackers coach for three seasons.

The 38-year-old was appointed as the Niners' defensive coordinator in January 2021. Ryans has a 52-46 regular-season record and a 6-2 record in the playoffs.

Ryan's impressive work with the Niners has put him in contention to land the head coaching job at the Texans. Even the Denver Broncos have reportedly shown interest in him as the team's new head coach.

But before landing any potential new job, Ryan will be focused on helping the Niners in their NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
