Derek Wolfe is a former defensive end who has spent nine seasons in the NFL, eight with the Denver Broncos and one with the Baltimore Ravens. In a recent interview, he revealed the gruesome injuries he suffered his entire career.

One revelation he made was surprising. In 2013, Wolfe said he suffered a seizure after he bruised his spinal cord during a game against the Seattle Seahawks. He returned to the playing field two weeks later as the Denver Broncos cleared him, stating his injury to be just a stinger.

The Broncos drafted Wolfe as the 36th overall in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft. On May 2012, he signed a 4-year, $5.2 million contract with the Denver Broncos. He signed a 4 year $36.7 million extension with Denver in January 2016.

In 2020, he was acquired by the Baltimore Ravens, signing a one-year, $3 million contract. He earned his biggest contract the following season when the Ravens extended his contract to three years for $12 million.

However, on June 2022, Derek Wolfe was released by the Ravens and he retired in July 2022. In his entire NFL career, he earned $52,426,199.

Derek Wolfe has also been fined by the NFL twice. In July 2015, he was suspended for four games for violating the league's PED policy, forfeiting $389,813 in 2015 salary/bonus with Denver. The former DE was fined $10,026 for showing unnecessary roughness against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the second round of the 2012 NFL draft, Denver picked Wolfe out of the University of Cincinnati with the 36th choice. He had an immediate impact on the Broncos defense, starting each of his first 16 games.

His most notable achievement came in 2015, when he helped the Denver Broncos defeat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. During that postseason run, Wolfe started three games and collected 15 tackles and 2.5 sacks for a defense that effectively carried Denver to victory.

Derek Wolfe concluded his career with 350 tackles, with 52 for a loss, including 34 sacks, and one interception while starting 116 of 122 regular season games.

After playing for Baltimore in 2020, he was sidelined for the entire 2021 season due to a hip ailment.

After the 2021 season, the Ravens released Wolfe, and he retired.
