Eno Benjamin or Tony Pollard: Who is a better fantasy pick?

Dallas Cowboys v New York Giants
Tony Pollard will be up against Detroit Lions in Week 7

Running back Tony Pollard of the Dallas Cowboys will try to score more points against the Detroit Lions in Week 7 of the NFL 2022-23 season.

In another contest, the Cardinals will play the Saints this week. Last week, Eno Benjamin served as the Cardinals' starting running back, and he appears ready to do so again.

Since last year, Pollard has unquestionably been the Cowboys' best running back. While not always seeing double-digit touches, Pollard has been able to produce good RB2/3 stats. As a result, he offers significant potential as an RB3 alternative in Week 7.

The Lions, who have the 32nd-ranked rush defense in the league, will be in action on Sunday, which is a positive thing for Pollard's fantasy owners.

Pollard's impact has grown during the previous three campaigns, and in 2021, he had his first top-30 fantasy year. His production was average, but he was incredibly effective as a rusher and receiver.

Eno Benjamin was put into the feature-back role last week when James Conner and Darrel Williams were forced to miss practice due to injuries.

Benjamin played a staggering 87 percent of the attacking snaps. Additionally, Benjamin's 18 touches were a Cardinals running back season high.

Sadly for fantasy owners, Benjamin only gained 65 pointless yards on his 18 touches. The great news, though, is that Benjamin's ceiling is still high. Williams and Conner are yet to work out this week. It is unlikely that either player starts just four days after neither seemed ready.

We believe Tony Pollard would be the superior choice, particularly for Week 7, as he could have a strong comeback performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 7.

Why might Tony Pollard be the better pick?

The Lions have already been terrible against runs, surrendering 10 run scores and an absurd 5.5 yards per carry this season. Only the Houston Texans permit more PPR fantasy points per game for RBs in the entire league.

Eno Benjamin will make as many plays against the Saints as he can manage, so fantasy players should plan accordingly. However, the game versus the Saints is not favorable. The Saints have given up the eighth-lowest fantasy points to RBs in six weeks.

Tony Pollard was not terrible in Week 6, but the game rules only allowed him to gain 44 rushing yards. He'll be up against a Lions backfield that ranks 31st against running backs, and he can expect his team to take the lead and go to the run game. But, of course, you can't predict what will happen in the NFL.

Still, Week 7 might see a match where Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott both have respectable fantasy outings. Both are listed as RB2s for this week.
