Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em 2022 NFL Week 8: Tight end rankings

New York Jets v Miami Dolphins

Tight ends are one of the most polarizing positions in Fantasy Football during each NFL season. The top players at the position each week are highly capable of putting up massive point totals. Almost all of them also have huge bust potential in every one of their matchups.

Fantasy Football managers, without the luxury of having one of the elite few tight ends on their roster, often use a streaming strategy for the position.

This makes matchups one of the most important factors to pay attention to when attempting to optimize a Fantasy Football lineup. Here are three tight ends to target and three others to avoid in Week 8 of the 2022 season.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Tight Ends: Start 'Em

Dalton Schultz - Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears

In two games with Dak Prescott this season, Dalton Schultz has combined to record 12 receptions for 111 yards. In three games without Prescott, he has totaled just two receptions for 18 yards.

Schultz has a bright outlook for the rest of the season as long as Prescott remains in the starting lineup for the Dallas Cowboys. He also has a chance to receive a few additional targets in Week 8 as Ezekiel Elliot is expected to be unavailable.

Mike Gesicki - Miami Dolphins vs. Detroit Lions

Mike Gesicki was a Fantasy Football bust for the first four weeks of the 2022 NFL season. Over the last three weeks, he has scored the sixth-most fantasy points per game among all tight ends.

Gesicki has a great chance to keep his hot streak going in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions' terrible defense. All Miami Dolphins players are in a favorable situation as the Lions are the only NFL team allowing more than 30 points per game.

Harrison Bryant - Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Cleveland Browns will reportedly be without starting tight end David Njoku for about the next month. This is a huge blow to their offense. Njoku currently ranks fourth among all tight ends in total Fantasy Football points during the 2022 NFL season.

Harrison Bryant is currently lined up to replace Njoku as he recovers from his injury. Bryant averages three targets per game this year, but could see a significant increase in workload while filling in for Njoku.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Tight Ends: Sit 'Em

Robert Tonyan - Green Bay Packers vs. Buffalo Bills

Robert Tonyan has finished in the top 10 in PPR scoring for tight ends just once this season. He has also finished 20th or worse four times this season. He will likely need to score a touchdown in Week 8 to be useful in Fantasy Football.

It won't be easy against the Buffalo Bills' stout passing defense. They have ranked in the top three in three of the last four seasons. They have also been particularly good against tight ends this year. The Bills have allowed zero touchdowns to tight ends so far this season.

Evan Engram - Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos

Evan Engram has been more involved in the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense in recent weeks. He has been targeted by Trevor Lawrence 23 times in his last three games, recording 40 or more receiving yards in all of them.

While Engram has finished as a top 10 Fantasy Football tight end in two of his last three games, he is probably better off avoided in Week 8. The Jaguars game against the Denver Broncos is projected to be low-scoring, limiting Engram's opportunities. The Broncos also rank in the top 10 in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.

Dawson Knox - Buffalo Bills vs. Green Bay Packers

Dawson Knox has become a bit of an afterthought in the Buffalo Bills' high-powered passing offense. He currently ranks fifth on the team in total targets, trailing all three of their top wide receivers as well as Devin Singletary.

Knox ranks just 26th in total Fantasy Football points among all tight ends. While playing in the Bulls offense offers plenty of upside, Knox has been able to carve out a large piece of it.
