Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears traveled to the NRG Stadium to take on C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans in the rookie quarterback's first primetime NFL game on Sunday Night Football.
Both teams opened their campaign with a win in Week 1. The Bears came from 17-0 down to beat the Tennessee Titans, while the Texans survived a shootout against the Indianapolis Colts and won 29-27.
Neither team is accustomed to starting the year 2-0. The Bears last won their opening two games of the season in 2020, while the Texans haven't achieved the feat since the 2016 campaign. Both teams would've fancied their chances of winning coming into the game, but only one would finish the day 2-0.

Houston Texans vs. Chicago Bears summary
Both offenses found their groove early and exchanged field goals in the opening two possessions of the game. The Texans took control of the proceedings with a 10-play, 92-yard drive, capped off by a C.J. Stroud pass to Nico Collins down the middle of the field for a 28-yard touchdown.
The Bears couldn't respond on the subsequent drive and punted the ball after only five plays. Houston continued to add to their lead as kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn split the uprights from 47 yards out to extend his team's lead to 10.
Chicago's offensive struggles continued and they punted the ball again after gaining only eight yards. But the Bears offense came through and forced a three-and-out to get the ball back in Caleb Williams' hand.
The quarterback and the offense were finally able to execute a stellar drive which culminated with Khalil Herbert powering through the Texans' defense from two yards out for a touchdown.
With 31 seconds left in the half, Houston needed Stroud to pull off some magic to get in a position to add to their points total and the quarterback obliged. A 13-yard pass to Dare Ogunbowale a 16-yard connection with Nico Collins got the Texans in field goal range.
A five-yard penalty made life slightly difficult for Fairbairn, but he converted from 59 yards out to give his team a 16-10 lead.
The third quarter was the complete opposite of the first. Neither offense could get going and punted three times each. In the final minute of the quarter, Williams, desperate to help his team erase the six-point deficit, threw a deep pass intended for D.J. Moore but it fell straight into Derek Stingley's lap, who made no mistake in intercepting it.
The Texans' offense capitalized on the turnover and drove the ball 32 yards to set up a 53-yard field goal try for Fairbairn, who made it look easy and extended his team's lead to nine. On the subsequent drive, the Bears quarterback tried to make amends but erred again, as his deep pass to Cole Kmet in Houston territory was intercepted by Kamari Lassiter.
Chicago's defense came to their team's rescue as they forced a three-and-out to get Stroud off the field. The Texans defense responded by stifling the Bears' offense and ending their drive in only three plays.
Houston's offense started its next drive in Chicago's territory and drove 41 yards to set up a 1st-and-goal from the four-yard line. The Texans entrusted Cam Akers with the responsibility to punch the ball in for the game-sealing touchdown, but the running back fumbled the ball and Kevin Byard was on hand to recover it and keep his team alive.
Williams and the offense finally strung together a scoring drive as they drove the ball 56 yards and set up a 54-yard field goal attempt for kicker Cairo Santos, which he converted. The Bears needed another quick stop and their defense came through as they got the Texans off the field in just over a minute of game time.
The rookie quarterback had the opportunity to execute his first career game-winning drive, but the Bears offense was on the field for only four plays as Houston's defense forced a turnover on downs to end the game.
