The NFL season is in Week 15, and the postseason is just a few weeks away. Some teams have been eliminated from playoff contention, and others are officially in the playoffs. Teams are getting what they bargained for. The high fliers are on the cusp of the postseason, while the tankers are at the other end of the spectrum. So, in honor of the soon-to-begin 2022 National Football League playoffs, here are a few tidbits on what to expect. The first-round bye is given to only two teams -- the winners of their respective conferences. The National Football League created this bye format thanks to the latest National Football League playoff format draft, which was implemented a few years ago. As of now, eight franchises will play in the divisional round, and the league will continue to halve the total of teams from there until one wins the Super Bowl. Previously, 12 teams (six from each conference) made the playoffs, but the National Football League changed that ahead of the 2020 NFL season. The new format entails seven teams from the NFC and seven from the AFC will make the postseason. It is a welcome development, as just under 50% of the teams in the National Football League will make the postseason. It gives fans more games to savor, and teams have a better chance of making it into the business end of the season. It is also important to note that Division winners will remain seeded from numbers 1-4 by the record, with the final three spots being occupied by Wild Card teams.
