Fans of the Dallas Cowboys should be aware of the team's quarterback situation, including Dak Prescott's, as they prepare to face the Raiders in Week 2 of the preseason in Las Vegas on Saturday.Due to ankle pain, Dak Prescott was unable to participate in the Cowboys' final practice before their preseason Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on August 11. But he was still able to play that game.Dak Prescott went back to practice on Wednesday, but it's very doubtful that he will participate in Saturday night's preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, let alone start. Cooper Rush and Trey Lance will likely split time at center for the Cowboys.Prescott hadn't participated in a preseason game since Mike McCarthy assumed the role of Dallas' coach in 2020 before last week's matchup with the Rams. For that reason, it's unlikely that the QB plays in Weeks 2 or 3 of the preseason.Additionally, given that Prescott has had injuries during his career, his health is being regularly monitored. A right foot sprain in pre-training camp practice made the quarterback briefly use a walking boot in July. He also had a calf injury in 2021 and sustained a serious ankle injury in 2020.Although he hasn't yet received a contract extension, Prescott will start the 2024 season as Dallas' starting quarterback. Cooper Rush and Trey Lance are expected to be his backups.Prescott, 31, will be eligible to sign a free agent contract elsewhere after the 2024 campaign if the Cowboys decide not to sign him to a long-term agreement.NFL preseason Week 2: How to watch Dallas Cowboys vs. Las Vegas Raiders? The Dallas Cowboys will face the Las Vegas Raiders in their second preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 17.
