"(Jake Ferguson) is dealing in his left knee what is described as a bone bruise and an MCL sprain. He told me (they) 'dodged a bullet that it's not the ACL'. As for whether he's going to play today, I just talked to a team source who told me trending out but not officially ruled out yet," Slater said.

Fans were worried about Ferguson's injury, many of them wondering if it was an ACL tear before the diagnosis was out. Thankfully, Ferguson has avoided a season-ending injury.

That being said, the TE practiced with the team. He was limited to the rehab group.

In an earlier update, Ferguson also revealed that the coaches are hoping to see his power while playing, and don't want him out there if he isn't at 100%.

Adam Schefter had previously reported that Ferguson was 'doubtful' for the game.

If Ferguson does miss the Week 2 game, Luke Schoonmaker will be playing as the team's tight end. With eight receptions in 2023, Schoonmaker was active for only 17 games. He had 8 catches on 15 targets.

Jake Ferguson status update:

As per recent reports, Ferguson will be out for the Cowboys Week 2 game.
