Los Angeles Rams CB Jalen Ramsey on the move?

Jalen Ramsey was a pivotal part of the Los Angeles Rams' success when they won the Super Bowl following the 2021-22 season. Now, the Rams could be looking to move on from the three-time All-Pro.

Los Angeles is currently in a fiscally troubling position. Ramsey did not help the matter through a now-deleted tweet which reported that he will no be cut but did not leave out being traded.

The franchise essentially went 'all-in' to win that Super Bowl championship in 2021, but there are salary cap and draft consequences to deal with now. For example, they signed Ramsey to a five-year, $100 million contract in September 2020.

In 2023, Jalen Ramsey's contract possesses a $25.2 million cap hit and a $26.7 million cap hit in 2024.

The cornerback was traded by the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Rams in October 2019. In 57 games with the Rams, he has 10 interceptions, 47 passes defended, and 162 solo tackles. He finished second this season with 18 passes defended.

Cutting the six-time Pro Bowler does more harm than good for Rams general Les Snead as he will likely look to trade Jalen Ramsey this offseason. Several teams could use the services of one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

Two teams that are likely destinations should the Rams move Jalen Ramsey

The free agent market for top-tier cornerbacks benefits both the Rams and Ramsey. One team in the running to pick up the player could be the Minnesota Vikings, whose defense gave up the second-most passing yards in the 2022 season.

However, the franchise does not have the cap space unless they unload some huge contracts like Adam Thielen or Harrison Smith.

Another possible landing location for Ramsey could be the New England Patriots to shore up the secondary. Jalen Ramsey would likely be the franchise's number one cornerback. The deal would likely yield the Rams the necessary draft picks in return.

We'll see if Ramsey's deleted tweet becomes a reality and he is traded this offseason.
