Running back Travis Etienne has not played for the Jacksonville Jaguars since he left the field in the second quarter of the team's Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears.
Tank Bigsby replaced Etienne Jr. as the outright RB1 for the last two games after it was determined that he had sustained a hamstring injury.
Head coach Doug Pederson initially said that Etienne is considered "week-to-week." The 25-year-old running back, however, practiced this week, participating in three consecutive limited sessions. Travis Etienne was given a questionable tag on the final injury report the Jags released on Friday ahead of their Week 9 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Will Travis Etienne play against the Eagles on Sunday?
Travis Etienne Jr. looks set to take the field for the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, despite not participating fully in any of the team's practices during the week, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
If Etienne Jr. can get through pregame warm-ups without any discomfort, he will have no issue playing when the game kicks off at 4:05 p.m. EST.
Although Etienne started this season as the Jaguars' RB1, Tank Bigsby may eventually take over some of his regular workload. The former first-round pick only managed 16 rushing yards on nine rushes in Weeks 5 and 6 against the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts.
In contrast, Bigsby has run for 196 yards and two touchdowns on 44 rushes in his last two games while Etienne was sidelined due to injury. In terms of effectiveness, Bigsby has surpassed Etienne, and in the two weeks before Etienne missed time due to a hamstring injury, he even appeared to be taking on a larger role.
If Travis Etienne assumes the RB1 job today, it will be interesting to see how he performs.
