The Kansas City Chiefs have been without Isiah Pacheco since Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season and it is a testament to Andy Reid's coaching brilliance that they have not let it affect their performance on the field. The running back has been an important cog in the offense ever since he was drafted, winning the last two Super Bowls. His ability to set the run game with hard rushing has allowed the passing offense to open up and let Patrick Mahomes do his thing. But his penchant for hard running caused the injury. The Chiefs, though, have not looked back. They have won every game since then and sit with a 9-0 record. They are the only unbeaten team remaining this season and must be considered favorites for winning this year's championship, too. As well as they have done without Isiah Pacheco, they would love to have the running back getting suited up again.Isiah Pacheco's Week 11 injury updateThe good news is that it looks likely that Pacheco will feature again for the Chiefs this season. Apart from him, players like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Charles Omenihu have also been out. Coach Andy Reid provided Kansas City fans with a positive update for all three:"They're all close. JuJu closer than the other two. I'd tell you, we might have them out there [at practice]. They're all close, all three of them."Returning to practice, though, does not mean that Pacheco or the others will be ready to take to the field in Week 11. The running back and Omenihu both had serious injuries that needed medical attention and they are likely to be eased back. JuJu Smith-Schuster, on the other hand, is battling a hamstring injury which should be more easily fixable since he did not require any sort of surgery on it.Therefore, it is unlikely that Isiah Pacheco will return for Week 11 in the highly anticipated matchup against the Buffalo Bills. However, fantasy football managers will be happy to note that he will likely be back before the season is over. For Chiefs fans, that will be a bonus since Kareem Hunt, Carson Steele and Samaje Perine have slotted in effortlessly to keep their undefeated streak going. How has Isiah Pacheco performed this season?Isiah Pacheco's strength in the rushing game has been a key part of Kansas City's success over the last two seasons. His ability to pick up yards after contact has been invaluable. That is reflected in his yards per carry in the last two seasons. He averaged 4.9 yards in 2022 and 4.6 yards in 2023.He began this season against the Ravens with 15 carries for 45 yards, for just three yards per attempt. However, when we look at Baltimore's rush defense across the season, they are allowing just 73 yards per match, which shows why the running back's output was low on the ground. His importance in that win was still clear as he scored a touchdown. He came back into his own against the Bengals in Week 2 before his injury in the final minutes. He accumulated 90 yards on 19 attempts before he fractured his fibula, for an average of 4.7 yards, which is right in line with what he was putting up in previous seasons. As good as Kareem Hunt has been, he is averaging 3.6 yards per carry. That means the moment Isiah Pacheco is fit, he may expect to slot in straight into the starting position. Given the overall strength of their team, especially on offense, fantasy football managers should consider starting him once he returns. It just isn't likely to be this week.
