Jalen Tolbert waiver wire Week 6 fantasy outlook: Why you should pick Cowboys WR

Is it fair to say Jalen Tolbert had a breakout game on Sunday Night Football? This Pittsburgh Steelers defense isn't as mean as it used to be, especially considering the franchise hasn't cheaped out on spending the cash to retain its personnel, but the Cowboys offense pulled through late in the game despite, at one point, looking like they'd fail to rise to the occasion under the bright lights of primetime football.

Tolbert was instrumental in the Cowboys' 20-17 win over the Steelers but if you needed any more reason to pick him off the waiver wire, here's why you should give the Cowboys wide receiver a shot.

Jalen Tolbert waiver wire outlook for Week 6

Let's start with the numbers. Tolbert hauled in seven of his 10 targets for 87 yards and a game-winning touchdown.

We've seen the Cowboys play around with Tolbert's targets over five weeks of football, but with Brandin Cooks on injured reserve, expect to see Dallas give him 8-10 targets over the next few weeks. He logged a season-high 89% of snaps and had a career-high in targets.

The bottom line: Tolbert stepped up as the Cowboys' WR2 and bagged the game-winning score to see Dallas through a touch matchup on primetime.

The bad news is that he appeared to pull his groin late in the game. The Cowboys' injury report is certainly one we'll have to keep an eye on but heading into Week 6, Tolbert is definitely at the top of our Week 6 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire pickups list.

The 2022 NFL Draft pick is a durable player, as evidenced by the fact he played all 17 games last season.

Tolbert is owned in 8% of ESPN leagues and 7% of Yahoo leagues. The Cowboys have a home game against Detroit on the schedule so he's definitely worth some flex consideration in Week 6.
