Javon Baker excelled when transferring from the University of Alabama to the University of Central Florida. Under coach Nick Saban, the Georgia native had nine receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown over two seasons.
During his time with the Crimson Tide, Baker fought for playing time against fellow wideouts DeVonta Smith, John Metchie III, Jameson Williams and Jaylen Waddle, among others. However, he became a notable draft prospect after spending two seasons with the Knights.
In two seasons at UCF, Baker had 108 catches for 1,935 yards and 12 touchdowns. He ended his college football career with a 1,000-yard season, which made NFL scouts notice his game.
If his game continues upward, he could provide fantastic value out of this impressive wide receiver class. While he did enough to prove that he’s NFL-worthy, his position in the draft remains a mystery.

Javon Baker 2024 NFL Draft Projection
NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein has Javon Baker getting selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Meanwhile, Bleacher Report has him going in the fourth round. Teams rave about his impressive route running and relentless willingness to get open when the quarterback goes off-script.
Baker is best suited to become a WR3/WR4 in an NFL team. He has the height to win jump balls and the change of pace to throw off defensive backs. His skill set will prosper if he lands among any of these teams.
Three best landing spots for Javon Baker
While Baker could get off the draft board in the third or fourth rounds, he will be in a favorable position if the following teams select him.
1) New York Jets
Aaron Rodgers’ return will vastly improve the Jets’ offense, especially if he returns to MVP form.
However, after Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams, the jury is still open to who their third starting wideout will be. Javon Baker can compete with Xavier Gipson and Malik Taylor for a starting spot. His size could take away some attention from Wilson and Williams.
2) Baltimore Ravens
The Odell Beckham Jr. experiment failed for Baltimore, allowing him to walk away after one season. His departure leaves the Ravens with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor as potential starters.
Javon Baker could make a difference for a playoff contender with two-time Most Valuable Player Lamar Jackson as starting quarterback.
3) Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals must build around Kyler Murray, especially after Marquise Brown signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
They are widely expected to draft Marvin Harrison Jr. in the first round. However, they can reinforce their receiving corps by having Baker play alongside the 2023 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner.
