Javonte Williams, Antonio Gibson, and Zack Moss are not among the names one will expect to hear when the topic of top AFC running backs is mentioned. After all, none of their teams have looked like playoff contenders so far.
But in this fantasy analysis, one ultimately has to be on some team. So who has the best value (relative to their position)?
Is Javonte Williams a good fantasy pick in Week 6?
It has been a long time since the Denver Broncos had a top runinng back like Terrell Davis and Clinton Portis. Knowshon Moreno was good in the brief time that he was with Peyton Manning, but he did not come to close to either of them.
Javonte Williams, meanwhile, has had to contend with playing with a weak team, especially when it comes to offense. Besides Courtland Sutton, the Broncos do not have much else to offer.
And that is not a good sign of things to come when they host the Los Angeles Chargers, who boast two top linebackers in Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack and top top defensive backs in Asante Samuel Jr. and Derwin James.
Is Antonio Gibson a good fantasy pick in Week 6?
In another world, Antonio Gibson would have been a franchise face in Washington DC. He was dominant as a rookie, scoring double-digit touchdowns and helping the team to an NFC East title despite a losing record. Then as a sophomore, he hit 1,000 yards on an otherwise-regressed team.
But then Brian Robinson surpassed him, and in 2024 he joined the New England Patriots to back up Rhamondre Stevenson. He has started one game and put up 207 yards.
And he will have a good opportunity to shine against the Houston Texans. Despite boasting Pro Bowlers Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, the two are more of pass-rushers.
Is Zack Moss a good fantasy pick in Week 6?
Zack Moss was not supposed to be a primary starter. He spent his time in the Buffalo Bills as a backup to Devin Singletary. Then he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts after they lost Jonathan Taylor to an injury.
He acquitted himself rather well, parlaying it to a bargain contract to become the lead rusher for the Cincinnati Bengals, who had just traded away Joe Mixon. And he has been a bright spot for a struggling team, scoring tow touchdowns.
Moss will have a decent opportunity to shine against the New York Giants, whose front seven is good at pass-killing but may face serious questions about the run. And if he gets past them, then the secondary is too anonymous to do anything.
Whom should I start among Javonte Williams, Antonio Gibson, and Zack Moss?
The Sportskeeda Start/Sit tool has a deadlock between Antonio Gibson and Zack Moss, but it is the former prevailing via being a better receiver.
On a team whose best receiver is tight end Hunter Henry, he has been the third-best pass-catcher, just behind Demario Douglas. Such dynamicism should prove handy in a franchise that is still looking for a concrete identity in the post-Bill Belichick era.
